Magda (paraplegic, Poland) had a car accident in 2011. In the beginning it was difficult for her to get used to life in a wheelchair, but her son Kevin was her main motivation to get out and become super active. Now she's an all-terrain mum on her Batec handbike.

«Her son Kevin was her main motivation to get out and become super active.»

Magda loves sports. After the accident, she's learned how to ski in a wheelchair, swim and play adapted tennis, among other sports. Plus, she's especially motivated to learn new activities because, as she explains, "My son tries to outdo 'his mummy', so he does everything I do. This way we can ski, swim, play tennis, volleyball, badminton etc. We even cook, clean and do homework together." Over the past few months, she started a new activity: headstands, which make her feel surprisingly good. Aren't you impressed?

«Thanks to the ELECTRIC BATEC handbike I go out more and I feel freer, more independent and, I think, even happier.»

Another one of Magda's passions is accompanying her son when he's cycling. However, travelling long distances, either to follow him or do any other daily activity, was very difficult. She started to look into powered add-ons for wheelchairs until a friend showed her a video of our handbikes. "I was stunned when I saw the guy on the video using the BATEC ELECTRIC handbike. I went out to try it and, when I did, I felt like my dreams had come true."

«The handbike is part of me now. Wherever I go, my Batec handbike goes.»

When she got the handbike home, she wondered if she'd made the right decision. But as soon as she tried it, she felt that she had. First of all, she was pleasantly surprised at how easy it is to attach it, "The way that you connect and disconnect the Batec handbike to the wheelchair is a fabulous idea." After a quick spin around the house, she hit the streets... And didn't come back for two hours! Now she uses it for everything: getting around the city, cycling with her son and taking him to school, walking the dog, shopping and travelling, among other things. "The handbike is part of me now. Wherever I go, my Batec handbike goes."
