As part of the activities of San Sebastian 2016, five themed expeditions will set off on 27 June to document diversity in Europe. For three months, they will simultaneously cycle around the European continent. Each expedition will set off from a different point in Europe and have a different theme: communities, architecture, gastronomy, biodiversity and sexuality. All five routes will end up in San Sebastian.
«Antxon will keep a logbook of everything related to biodiversity over the more than 3,000 km that separate Copenhagen from San Sebastian.»
Antxon Arza (paraplegic, Pamplona) has been chosen by Biziz, the third touring embassy of San Sebastian 2016, as a communicator for one of the five expeditions. Over the more than 3,000 kilometres, he will keep a logbook on his findings related to the project entitled Cycling route for Biodiversity: How to look after our homes. The expedition will leave from Copenhagen, taking Antxon through Denmark, Germany, the Netherlands, the United Kingdom and France on his BATEC ELECTRIC handbike. "I will be travelling with Begoña Julián and Aitor Mantuliz, who are biologists, and we're going to look at biodiversity in the broadest sense of the word. We're going to raise awareness of the fact that each and every living being, no matter how insignificant they seem, is important to the planet and, therefore, to our existence as human beings. We hope to create an attractive, relatable blog where we can have fun while learning," explains Antxon.
