A few months ago, former Paralympic tennis player Mark Eccleston (paraplegic, United Kingdom) went to Scotland to travel some of the most spectacular wheelchair-accessible routes in the country with his BATEC QUAD HYBRID handbike.

"Scotland is a beautiful country and has lots of wilderness but if you do a little research you will find plenty of accessible accommodation and cycle routes where you can use your Batec", Mark tells us. He stayed in Lochletter, near Loch Ness, and recommends it for its location and surroundings.

With his Batec handbike, he saw the area around Loch Ness, however he says the most impressive route he did was Glen Strathfarrar, "which is 15 miles long and gradually climbs up a mountain till you reach a Loch and Dam at the top. It was truly spectacular and along the way you will see Golden Eagles, Deer, Pine Martins as well as stunning scenery". The great way of connecting with nature from a wheelchair without having to sacrifice the ease of using your manual wheelchair when you want to take a break along the way.

Mark has used our handbikes for years now. As a former athlete, he chose the BATEC QUAD HYBRID handbike so he could continue to do exercise and keep fit.

We love discovering everything nature has to offer with our users and, of course, the beauty of Glen Strathfarrar has captivated all of us as well.
