BATEC MINI 2

The Magic Kings are coming! This is one of the most endearing traditions in Spain, thanks to the magic that surrounds it and the excitement of children and the young at heart ;-). Although in most countries around the world Santa Claus is in charge of delivering gifts, in Spain it is Melchior, Gaspar and Balthazar who visit homes in the wee hours giving out presents.

According to tradition, children must write a letter to the Magic Kings explaining how good they've been and explaining what they want. There are many ways to make sure they get the letter, by post or the pages and helpers found in the most disparate places. But those who didn't have time to send theirs off shouldn't worry, as magic is the order of the day they'll just know anyway. They are magic after all!

The afternoon of 5 January, the three Magic Kings with their entourage arrive by land, sea and air in towns and cities around the country. They then take to the streets in parades full of magic, music and colour; spreading smiles, sweets and joy among children who've come out to receive them excitedly.

After the parade, it's time for an early night. But not before leaving your shoes on the balcony or under the Christmas tree so the kings will know where to leave your presents. But don't forget to put out a bit of food and water for the camels and some sweets for the kings: they have a long night ahead and need their strength... The next morning, everyone wakes up early, as it's impossible to contain the excitement to see whether your dreams have come true. And the naughty ones will find lumps of coal... made from sugar as a warning to behave better next year if they don't want to be left without presents!

«The typical dessert is roscón de reyes, a ring shaped cake that also has its surprises.»

And after a magical night, what better than a good dessert. The typical roscón de reyes, a ring shaped cake that also has its surprises: a small figure and a bean. Whoever gets the figure is king for the day. And the person who gets the bean has to pay for the cake!

We hope you've been good this year and that you'll find everything you've asked for under the tree on the morning of 6 January, including some of our handbikes or perhaps some ACCESSORIES for your Batec handbike.
