With the slogan "run for those who can't", thousands of people all over the world participated in this fun run in which you don't reach the finish line, it reaches you. The "catcher cars", driven by well-known figures such as Carlos Sainz (Formula One driver), Marc Coma (Paris-Dakar champion) and Felix Baumgartner (stratosphere base jumper), went around finding and eliminating the runners until they had caught the last one in each country. The global champions for 2016 were Italian Giorgio Calcaterra, who won in Milan with 88.3 km, and Japanese Kaori Yoshida, who completed 65.71 km in Takashima.

This year, as in the previous editions, runners in wheelchairs participated in the event, making a lasting, moving impression. Participants included people with spinal injuries with exoskeletons, renowned ambassadors encouraging and inspiring people to join in and incredible wheelchair runners, such as Aron Anderson, who was the national winner in Sweden in 2015 after finishing 64.82 kilometres. In Slovenia they even had the pleasure of having Paralympic mountaineer Gal Jakič, participate with one of our handbikes! Togetherness, fun and overcoming challenges. That's what Wings for Life World Run is all about!

«The next Wings for Life World Run will take place on 7 May 2017.»
