Pau’s accident
Pau Bach suffered a motorbike accident at 18 and was left quadriplegic. As he was unable to find mobility solutions that covered his needs, he began to design a prototype he could use. This would later become the first Batec handbike.

Our history
It all started with the personal story of our founder and inventor, Pau Bach.
Pau suffered a motorbike accident at just 18, which left him quadriplegic. Frustrated by a lack of mobility solutions that adapted to his lifestyle and needs, he decided to take control and create a customised mobility solution.
That was how the first Batec handbike was born, allowing him to enjoy a new form of mobility, do sport, go out with friends, travel and move around freely in his daily life. With time, Pau decided to share his handbike with the world, and thus, in 2006, Batec Mobility was born.

First prototype
The first home-made prototypes of add-on handbikes for wheelchairs are made. They incorporated technology from bicycles and electric vehicles of the time.

2006
Batec Mobility is born
Together with his brother, Pau took a step further by offering other people with mobility problems the chance to drastically improve their lives. The prototypes of his handbikes became viable and marketable products.

Launch of the first Batec handbike
The first Batec handbike goes on sale in Spain.

2012
Momentum Project
We began a process of internationalisation thanks to the Momentum Project, with PricewaterhouseCoopers, BBVA and Esade. This allowed us to have a presence in more than 30 countries today.

Launch of the Batec 1 range
Launch of the Batec 1 range worldwide.

Launch of the Batec 2 range

MS Group
Batec Mobility became part of the MS Group, a group of companies that provide mobility solutions to the medical device market and that belongs to the Swedish investment fund Latour Industries. MS Group comprises three brands: AAT – Alber Antirebstechnik, Batec Mobility and REAC.
