Fran (tetraplegic, Jerez), Miguel (paraplegic, Barcelona) and Andrés (paraplegic, Baena) made it through the 100 kilometres of Trailwalker 2015 with their wheelchairs and Batec handbikes in 22 hours and 50 minutes. For all three of them, the experience was exciting, very difficult and, above all, unique in terms of team spirit.

In their second year at Trailwalker, Mutua Asepeyo participated under the motto "You'll never be alone" and it is clear that the three Asepeyo teams created a great atmosphere and forged bonds that kept them together right to the finish line.

As they explain, from the beginning of Trailwalker to the end, the exciting and difficult moments intertwine: "At the start, for example, we were in the first row. So when you look back and see the thousands of people behind you, who are ready to be part of this challenge, you can't help but be moved. Also, every time you stop at a checkpoint, there are people encouraging you."

They say it was around Girona when the exhaustion started to set in: "You've been in the chair for 12 hours by then and it's starting to get dark. That's when you start to feel tired, both physically and mentally."

The most difficult moment for all the members of the Asepeyo team, undoubtedly, came at five o'clock in the morning when it started to pour. They were at kilometre 77. So, the last twenty kilometres were hell: "It seemed like the great flood. Luckily we were well protected and our bodies didn't get cold, which was essential for continuing."

"The BATEC QUAD HYBRID and BATEC HYBRID handbikes performed incredibly throughout the 100 kilometres and took on the sun, mud and rain without a problem."

Andrés and Miguel, who had participated in a previous edition of Trailwalker with recumbent handbikes, told us: "With the Batec, the experience is more relaxed and you can enjoy the landscape, which is highly worth it." Fran, who was new to Trailwalker this year on his BATEC QUAD HYBRID, told us: "It was mission accomplished in two areas: personally, because I accepted the challenge at a difficult point in my life, and physically, as it was many hours and bad weather. The BATEC QUAD HYBRID was an extraordinary travel companion. I didn't need to use the battery at all and I really enjoyed each stage, the environment and the landscape. Plus, having my wife and baby waiting for me at each checkpoint through the 50-kilometre mark gave me the power to carry on."

"When you reach the finish line you can't even talk. There are no words to describe how you feel." The motto 'You'll never be alone' that accompanied the Asepeyo teams throughout their adventure for Fran, Andrés and Miguel became the purpose and meaning of this latest Trailwalker. "You realise that the team and team spirit is what makes this experience truly unique. All three Asepeyo teams reached the finish line together. It wasn't necessary, but we wanted it that way."
